Whilst it can appear similar to softplay or play parks, bouldering centres are a lot more dangerous and require much closer attention and supervision. You must therefore be with your child at all times.

If you would prefer to supervise your own kids rather than book them on to one of our instructed sessions then this is not a problem. Bouldering is a serious and dangerous sport that must not be mistaken for soft play. One of the most risky elements to children is when moving around the centre. Supervisors must be aware of all risks and fall zones at all times.

Please note that any group size of over 6 kids will need to be booked in as an instructed session, even if you have the correct ratio of supervisors. This is to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all users of the centre. If you do not book in then your group will be refused entry to the climbing centre upon arrival.

All children under the age of 16 must be supervised at all times, with the exceptions of those who have completed our Junior Competency Test which is available for children aged 14+.

There is no minimum age restriction on children when they are under your own supervision, however we would recommend that you begin to introduce them from the age of 4 upwards, as below that they may not be able to get the most out of the centre.

If you have not climbed at our centre or supervised before, we will give you a short ‘Safe 2 Supervise’ briefing on your first visit. However, we also have our Bouldering Induction available to book on to which provides more in depth explanations about how to use our centre safely.

Booking Information

Please note that any group size of over 6 kids will need to be booked in as an instructed session, even if you have the correct ratio of supervisors. This is to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all users of the centre. If you do not book in then your group will be refused entry to the climbing centre upon arrival.

If you have read all of the information on this page and you are happy to supervise your own children then you do not need to book in advance and can just turn up to climb. We do however recommend filling out all of the acknowledgement of risk forms and supervising forms in advance to speed up time when you arrive.

Pre-Climbing Check List

1) Check that you have enough adults to supervise the amount of children you are bringing (we work on a max ratio of 1 adult to 2 children, if the supervisors are not climbing).

2) Complete Acknowledgement of Risk Forms for both climbers and supervisors even if they supervisors are not climbing

3) Come climbing!

*Special consideration will be given to parents who are supervising kids who are part of a squad/team at another wall, NICAS/NIBAS level 3 or who have considerable climbing experience. This is at the discretion of the Duty Manager and we advise calling in advance to check. If we agree it will be safe, then you may supervise 2 children AND climb with children under the age of 11.
